Light2Give is a U.S.-based educational and service-learning initiative that brings together STEM education, renewable energy, and community impact. Middle school students learn the fundamentals of solar energy by assembling solar lanterns—then donate those lanterns to local nonprofit organizations serving people experiencing homelessness in their own communities.
How Light2Give Works
Students receive hands-on instruction in solar energy and basic electronics.
Working in teams, students assemble reliable, handheld solar lanterns.
Completed lanterns are donated to a local nonprofit partner.
The nonprofit distributes lanterns directly to individuals and families in need.
Why This Matters
For Students: Light2Give transforms abstract STEM concepts into meaningful, real-world learning. Students build confidence, teamwork & leadership skills, and a sense of civic responsibility—while discovering how renewable energy can solve real problems.
For Communities: Solar lanterns provide safe, renewable light for people without reliable access to electricity—supporting safety, dignity, and daily living.
Why Funders Choose Light2Give
Funding Light2Give allows organizations—especially utility and energy companies—to make a visible, measurable impact in the communities they serve.
Advance STEM education and workforce awareness
Promote renewable energy literacy at an early age
Demonstrate authentic community investment and social responsibility
Support practical solutions for vulnerable populations
Align brand values with education, sustainability, and equity
Our Fiscal Agent
Our Fiscal Agent is the Leadership Forum Community (LFC) which is a 100 year old 501(c)3 nonprofit. LFC provides administrative and financial support (managing funds, reporting, and administration of grant funds) when an individual or organization makes a large donation.
One program. Two powerful outcomes:
Educated students who understand clean energy.
Brighter nights for people who need light the most.
With full funding of "Phase 2" of the Pilot Project your company has the option of having a sticker placed on the solar lantern itself. In addition, a small pamphlet can be included inside the box that the solar lantern is shipped inside of so that students get to read about your company.
Join us in lighting the way.
Currently seeking funding for the spring 2026 school year to run Phase 2 of our Pilot Program which will serve 1,000 students (building 1,000 solar lanterns) in schools across the US.
